Complete Production Line

Two Machines. One System.

Every line is engineered as an integrated system. Click any machine to learn more.

01
Roll Former

Multi-station hardened roll forming mill for C, Z, U, hat, and custom profiles. 8–24 stations available.

02
Hydraulic Flying Cutoff

PLC-synchronized flying die press. Cuts to exact length without stopping the line. ±1/32 in. accuracy.

Machine 01 — Line Component

Roll Former

The heart of every Norden Engineering production line. Multi-station mills with precision-ground hardened steel rolls progressively bend flat strip into finished profiles at speeds up to 100 ft/min.

Available in 8 to 24 forming stations. Rigid welded steel frame with adjustable side frames for quick profile changeover. Variable speed drive for flexible production.

Key Features

Hardened roll tooling

All rolls manufactured from high-grade tool steel, heat treated and precision ground. Long service life with consistent profile accuracy.

Rigid welded frame

Heavy-section welded steel base eliminates deflection at full production speed. Critical for maintaining profile straightness.

Quick-change tooling

Roll sets designed for fast changeover between profiles. Reduces downtime when switching production runs.

Variable speed drive

Electronically controlled speed from 0 to maximum — synchronized with the hydraulic flying cutoff for clean cuts at any speed.

Machine 02 — Line Component

Hydraulic Flying Cutoff

Synchronized flying die cutoff press that cuts profiles to exact programmed length without stopping or slowing the production line. The die travels with the profile during cutting, then returns — zero interruption to output speed.

PLC-controlled with encoder feedback and programmable length memory. Hydraulic or pneumatic drive options available depending on material and cycle rate.

Key Features

Zero line interruption

The die moves with the profile during every cut stroke. Production never stops — output rate is limited only by the roll former speed.

PLC encoder synchronization

Encoder on the roll former continuously feeds position data to the PLC. The cutoff die is triggered at precisely the right position every cycle.

Programmable length memory

Store up to 99 cut length programs. Operators switch between jobs in seconds without retooling or manual measurement.

Clean square cuts

Die geometry designed for the specific profile cross-section. Produces burr-free, square ends without profile distortion.

Custom Tooling Engineering

Roll Tooling

Norden Engineering manufactures all roll tooling in-house. From profile analysis and roll flower design to machining, heat treatment, and final grinding — every tool set is engineered specifically for your profile and material.

01
Roll Flower Design

We develop a full bending sequence for every new profile. Each station's bend angle is calculated to achieve the final geometry with minimal springback and material stress.

02
Roll Machining

Rolls machined from high-grade tool steel on CNC lathes. Profile contours cut to within 0.0004 in. tolerance before heat treatment and final grinding.

03
Heat Treatment

All forming rolls undergo vacuum heat treatment to 58–62 HRC surface hardness. Hard chrome plating available for high-abrasion or pre-painted material applications.

04
Cutoff Die Tooling

Flying cutoff dies are profile-specific. Upper and lower blades matched to the exact cross-section for clean, burr-free cuts. Replacement blade sets supplied as spares.

Tooling Process

From drawing to finished tooling

01
Profile analysis

Review customer drawing or sample profile. Confirm material grade, gauge, and tolerance requirements.

02
Roll flower CAD

Design full bending sequence in CAD. Customer approves roll flower diagram before machining begins.

03
Machining & HT

CNC turning of all rolls, followed by vacuum heat treatment and final precision grinding.

04
Assembly & test run

Tooling assembled on the mill and run on sample material. Profile checked against drawing before shipment.
